A family calendar by Megalight Games

In Development

The whole family, one calendar.

School, practice, work and the dentist, on every phone at once. Chores that earn points, lists that split by store, dinner planned for the week, and a map that says who got home. Set up on one phone; everyone else joins with a code.

Dotdown is not in the Google Play Store yet, so there is nothing here to download.

Free to use. Premium adds meal planning, what to eat, health records, pets and the browser; Premium with Location adds the map and place alerts. Every family can take thirty days of Premium with Location, free, starting whenever a parent chooses.

The Dotdown home screen: the family name, a chip for each member, today's event on the schedule, and shortcuts to location, what to eat, pets and workouts.

What it does

One app for the running of a family

Built by a family that was tired of five apps and a fridge.

A month of the family calendar, most days carrying one or more colour-coded entries from several sources.Free · Premium adds more

One calendar, every source

Your own events beside the school's calendar, the team's schedule and a Google calendar. Feeds update on their own. Give any event a colour or a picture, put a family photo behind the whole calendar, and keep special days and birthdays alongside everything else.

Two children's running point totals, above the rewards their points can be spent on.Premium

Chores with points

Who does what, on which days, grouped by how often they repeat and tickable early when someone gets ahead. A kid ticks it off, a parent approves from their phone, and the points add up to whatever you agreed.

A shared shopping list grouped into drinks and household, with an item marked for one person.Free

Lists that know the store

Shopping grouped and filtered by store, and any other list you need. Add a recipe's ingredients in one tap.

Several days of the meal planner with breakfast, lunch and dinner filled in, each with a picture.Premium

Meals for the week

Plan breakfast to dinner, pick from your recipes, paste a link to any recipe page and it comes in with its ingredients and steps.

Choosing who is eating, what kind of meal, and which saved place to search around.Premium

What to eat

A parent asks where to eat, everyone ranks their picks, and the app counts the votes and decides. The winner can go straight onto the meal plan. It suggests places nearby, and remembers what each person never wants suggested.

A health record: medications with their dose, then allergies and conditions.Premium

Health, per person

Allergies, conditions, blood type, who to call, insurance, and medicines with the dose and how often. A medicine can remind you at the times you take it, every day, and a parent can be the one reminded for a young child. Each person's records are private, and a parent decides who sees what.

A training plan with its sessions, above one workout broken into exercises with sets and reps.Free

Workouts that adapt

A plan built for your goal and what you have to train with. Say what is sore and it works around it; say how tired you are and the week adjusts. Every set logged, the next weight suggested.

A pet's vaccination records, each showing when it was given, which practice gave it, and when it is next due.Premium

Pets, shots and vet visits

Each pet's shots, medicines, grooming and appointments, with reminders before they are due and the visits on the calendar.

A map with one family member's last known position, and a row saying where they are and since when.Premium with Location

Where everyone is

Share location on your terms. Places have a kind and any size you like, and arrivals and departures report as they happen. A stop can be named for where it is rather than a street address, and the app offers to save somewhere the family keeps stopping. A week of history, then it is gone.

A phone home screen carrying two Dotdown widgets: a shopping list and a countdown to a birthday.Free · Premium adds more

Widgets and the browser

The month, today's chores, the shopping list and a countdown on the home screen. The same family in any browser, on a bigger screen.

How it works

Everyone gets their own way in

Parents decide what each person sees and changes.

One phone sets it up

Install, name the family, add the people. It works before anyone signs in; an account is what lets other phones see the same thing.

Everyone else joins with a code

Send a link. Grown-ups sign in with an email or Google. Kids get a username and the family's code, and no email at all.

Parents set the permissions

Per person: what they can see, add and change, from a young kid who sees the family calendar to a teen who runs their own. Presets to start from.

It just stays in step

A change on one phone is on the others in a moment, and everything works offline until it can send.

Pricing

Three plans, each including the one before

Every family can take thirty days of Premium with Location, free, once: a parent starts them in the app whenever the family is ready, and when they end the family is on Free unless it has bought a plan. One purchase covers the whole family, bought through Google Play on a phone. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends; it all comes back if the plan returns.

Questions

What families ask first

Is Dotdown really free?

Yes. The calendar, lists, chores with approvals, workouts, kids' logins and the month widget are free for as long as you like, with no advertising. Premium and Premium with Location add more, and every family can try Premium with Location free for thirty days, whenever a parent chooses to start.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. Dotdown is on Android first. A family with an iPhone in it can use Dotdown in any browser with Premium, including on an iPhone, and see the same calendar as everyone else. If you'd use an iPhone app, leave your email below and we'll write when it's ready.

How do I add my school's or my team's calendar?

In the app, go to Calendars, then Add a calendar, then Subscribe to a feed, and paste the calendar link the school or club gives out. Most school districts and team apps such as PlayMetrics publish one. It stays up to date on its own. One feed is free; Premium adds as many as you need and a Google Calendar connection.

How do kids sign in?

With a username and the family's code. No email address is needed. A parent sets up each child's login and decides what they can see, add and change, from the whole family's calendar to only their own chores.

Does one purchase really cover the whole family?

Yes. A parent buys once, through Google Play on their phone, and every member of the family gets the plan on every phone and in the browser. There is a monthly, a yearly and a pay-once price for each plan.

What happens when the trial or a plan ends?

The family goes back to Free. Nothing is deleted: recipes, health records, points and everything else stay where they are and come back the moment the family has a plan again.

Who can see where I am?

Nobody, until you switch sharing on for your own phone. A parent chooses how often phones report and which children can see whom. History is kept for a week and then deleted. Location sharing is part of Premium with Location.

How do I get help?

In the app, Settings has a "Something wrong?" section that sends us a report, or write to contact@megalightgames.com. A person reads every message.

On an iPhone?

Leave your email and we'll write once, when Dotdown is on iPhone. We use it for nothing else, and delete it afterwards.

Privacy

Your family's data is your family's

The short version. The whole of it is in the privacy policy.

Nothing is sold, nothing is shown

No ads, no trackers, no selling of anything. The only company that ever sees your data is the one that hosts it.

Only the people you let in

Every row is guarded by who is in the family and what a parent allowed. A kid's phone cannot see what a parent did not grant, and neither can anyone else.

Location is opt-in, per person

Nobody's phone shares until they switch it on, and a parent decides which children can see whom. History is kept for a week and then deleted on the server.

Leave whenever you like

Delete your account from inside the app, or from this page if you no longer have it. Export the family's data any time.
